Trina deLisser, Director of Half Moon Equestrian Centre
Trina deLisser is Director of Half Moon Equestrian Centre, international show jumper, retired International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) show jumper judge and animal welfare activist. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Trina got her introduction to horses and riding through her father, who played polo for Jamaica on the international circuit. Following years of riding horses in the hills on the city outskirts, Trina started her competition career at 7 years old, progressing to show jumping. Trina’s love of teaching would manifest itself at the tender age of 13, when she developed an early iteration of a riding
school at her parents’ stables.
Trina and her team of equine enthusiasts provide services such as riding school, animal shelter, wellness retreat and adventure activities. As an FEI-certified Level 2 Instructor, she provides tutelage in dressage, jumping and polo, as well as lends her expertise to multiple equestrian events around the Caribbean
as a consultant.
Trina’s passion for the protection of animal welfare spawned her horse-rescue programme an initiative which has seen countless horses rescued from adverse environments and activities, and rehabilitated to health, happiness and purpose. She has expanded this programme to include dogs, and other animals in need of a home.
Trina’s horses, who she dubs “wellness instructors”, also offer weekly therapeutic rides for children and adults with special needs.
